About Thriller
As many of you know the song Thriller was made by "the king of pop"
Jackson was also in a group with his brothers called the 'Jackson 5'. Michael Jackson put a lot of effort into this song especially being able to learn the famous dance of thriller. The song was originally released by Epic Records from his 1982 studio album. But the video premiered on November 14, 1983. |
My experience
When first even knowing we were going to learn this dance I was already thinking it was going to be a piece of cake. little did I know we had to actually learn it then get tested. The first couple of moves of the dance were pretty simple walking back and forth and then it started getting a little more faster. Knowing the steps by saying whats next was actually easy and actually going to the beat was another reason why it was pretty easy. I have to say not doing the steps without the music was a little weird at first because i didn't really know how the song was going to be and where we had to start. If i was learning this song on my own i would of learned a couple steps first then practice with the song so I would have gotten the hang of the sped of the song, but thats my personal preference.
View on professional dancersI still Think depending on what dance you are learning the experience might be better or worse. Some dances might be easier than others, some might be way harder. It also depends on the person who is trying to learn the dance. I have a lot of respect for those who are professional dancers and for those who want to be a professional dancer. It isn't easy to be noticed, Obviously you have to work hard for everything. Dancers have to practice and practice until they have perfected a move or dance. Many dancers make a living off of what they love to do, which is dancing. Dancing is a way of expressing how you feel, it can even be a stress reliever and even a WORKOUT. Its very tiring if you actually put a lot of energy in it, professionals have to put all their energy to get noticed. So overall i have a lot of respect for those dancers who dedicate all their time perfecting and learning new dances especially remembering all the moves.

Over all experience
Dancing to thriller with the actual song was not so easy. Since we never practiced with the song no one knew how to actually dance it. I knew most of the moves by saying the words but when the music started playing at some points i was off but i would try to keep going. Ms. Longi then explained that we had to be on the floor at the beginning of the dance then slowly rise up, I found this part easy but i would always giggle. Then we were off by a whole 8 count and we had to do some parts faster than we anticipated. The part i got confused was when we had to do the punch punch punch down hit hit head shoulder knees and toes, That part was confusing because we would usually practice it slow but when she showed how to actually do it with the song all those moves had to be done in a second which we had to do it super quick to be able to catch up with the actual song. My least favorite move was the booty bounce i found it so awkward because in the class theres a mix of both girls and boys and i wouldnt want to do the actual move but i really liked the part where we did 'Rock on Rock on Rock on Rock on' because It was a very simple move but you had to but some evffort and movement to make it look good.
